Growing up, I played one sport at a time. As a male athlete, I could play football, basketball, baseball and soccer. The very few girls who played sports were labled "tom boys" and had limited exposure to organized sports programs. 30 years later, a tremendous amount of progress has been made in the world of female athletics. Today, girls have the opportunity to participate in basketball, softball, soccer, track & field, tennis, swimming and my favorite sport to watch-girls volleyball. To create this web site, I just sat down and thought to myself: what information do parents and their kids need to better understand the game of volleyball, to know whether to play club or rec leagues, to know which club is the best fit, how to have the same excitement and joy for the game that my daughters have experienced in just the past few years, to know more about the various camps offered during the summer and to know about individuals who offer one-on-one and group instruction. The content comes from a variety of sources: some I've written myself, some has been written by club directors and/or coaches, and some has been contributed by other parents or kids who play the game. I hope this information is helpful. Be sure to sign my guestbook at the bottom of the screen or send e-mail to let me know what you think (or to contribute articles or ideas). I'll be updating frequently, so check back often! |
